Tittle: Plain

Artist Statement:

My inspiration for my piece was that sense I am a beginner in art I wanted to start off with something I knew I was capable of doing. The piece was already in black and white so it was easier for me to see all the places that i needed to shade and what value they needed to be.

The process I used was grid drawing. I also broke the square in to 4 square so I knew that i was putting everything in the right place.

Tittle: Van

Artist Statement:

My inspiration for this piece is my love for my Van shoes. I think if the shoes were on display more than more people could buy them and love them to.

The process I used was cross contour line drawing with ink. I used the line to show the movement and the form of the shoe.

Tittle: Galaxy

Artist Statement:

My inspiration for this piece was to do something different. I didn't want to do a regular horizon like everybody else and also I wanted to give everybody else something different to look at.

The process I used was wet on dry technique to get a lot of detail in my piece. I also used more water in areas to make it lighter and to make the colors blend.

Tittle: Mycina

Artist Statement:

My inspiration for this piece was to do something different and to make sure it stood out. I also wanted people to see how unique my name is.

The process I used in my piece wet on dry to make sure the board was covered completely. I also had to make sure that all my colors were solid and that my lines were straight.

Tittle: Smokin

Artist Statement:

My oil pastel piece is a character in a movie called the mask. I used new craft development to make my piece realistic and to create different textures. The title of my piece is The Mask. I really tried to bring out the silly personality of the mask in this piece.

My art was created with oil pastels. I used heavy pressure and light pressure techniques to get the right value of each color I wanted. I reapplied light colors over the dark to get more of a painting look to it. I used my finger to make sure that everything was blended nicely. To get in small spaces and move the colors around I used a blending stump.

My inspiration for this piece was how much I enjoy watching the movie. Me and The Mask I feel have similar personalities and I wanted to show that in this piece. I also know how much my mom loves the movie so that also made me want to create this piece so that she could enjoy it to.

My goals as an artist is just to keep improving and getting better. I wanted to keep learning about the different art tools and the way to use them. I also wanna push myself to do more challenging pieces of art because I know that will make me feel better about myself as a artist.

My overall thought of this piece is that it was very successful and I feel like I did a really good job. My final piece is everything I imagine it would be. This piece has influenced my future art by doing more piece that I enjoy and that I know will make other people happy to.

Tittle: The Bubble

Artist Statement:

My foreshortening piece is a picture of a women holding a bubble in her hand. The tittle is The Bubble.

I used color pencil for my artwork. I had to reapply colors to make the blend well to get the right color I needed.

I chose to do this because I felt like skin tone is a big challenge for me so I wanted to work more on it to get better.

My goal was to make the piece look realist and also make the foreshortening of the piece clear to the audience. You can tell that my piece is a foreshortening piece but i could've worked on the reality of it more.

From creating this piece I learned that certain skin tones are very difficult to get and there is a lot of color that you have to blend to get the right tone; its just not one color. My final piece is not really what I imagined because I had to rush on some part but its not to bad. This piece will influence my future artwork because it shows me that I need to pay attention to how much time I have to create something.

Tittle: The Selfie

Artist Statement:

My acrylic piece for the art show is selfie of a women with red shirt and black curly hair. The title of my piece The Selfie.

I used acrylic paint for my piece. To create my artwork I started with the background and did all the big spaces first then I put in all the details last. I used a flat brush for the big area and a round brush for the details.

My inspiration for this piece was the hair. I wanted to make the beauty of her hair stand out. I also want women to feel like they are beautiful.

My goal was to try something new and more challenging. This piece has help me to reach my goal and it has taught me a lot of new and different techniques.

In the piece I learned how to blend colors and get the correct skin tone I needed and I also learned how to apply details in hair to make the curls stand out.

Tittle: Lono

Artist Statement:

My inspiration for this piece was the type of god Lono. I wanted to do something happy and I thought it would be cool to have a pregnant tiki sculpture.

The process I used was slip and score to make sure that all the pieces I added stayed on. I also used the coil method to exaggerate my facial features.
